Deconstructing the Myth of Soulmate will lead you through multiple ways of understanding your patterns, challenges, gifts, assumptions and conditioning so that you can write a new story, with reverence for where you’ve come from as well as where you’re going.

Course Description
In a culture that largely conflates myth with lie, or sees mythology as a relic of the past or as a tool for fantasy movies and the “unreal,” we’ve largely lost sight of the ways that mythologies -- be they spiritual, cosmological, familial or ancestral -- shape and inform our experience. Sometimes they run unexamined in the background as assumptions we do not remember consciously opting into.
However, myths are also the stories that speak to our heads and hearts, helping us to orient to and navigate our experiences. Understanding our personal mythologies and where they came from gives us power to understand, bring awareness, and then shift as or if needed.
Also? Well, friends, it’s very true that relationality is a core component of the work that needs to be done as we navigate the chaos of our current paradigm shift. Figuring out how to do relationships better is key – and Venus retrograde periods always give us an opportunity to reflect and readjust.
This course provides you with an opportunity to excavate the past and become a more adept lover of Soul and soulful, vibrant living. It will help you shed light on the patterns and scripts burrowed into your heart that have perhaps served a purpose but might need some updating.

The idea of the soulmate is one that has been romanticized over long periods of time, often entrenching itself in the modern psyche as an ideal. The longing for someone else to complete us is but one manifestation of a cultural mythos that is all at once enticing and yet highly nuanced and even problematic, as it can encourage us to externalize our power.
The thing is, there is not one form or model of relationship that will fit every person’s needs. Obtaining fulfilling, life-enhancing relationship oftentimes requires that we go within to figure out our own stuff: our values, wants and needs; our own relationship with sex, sexuality and intimacy,... at the same time as we respect the inherent relationality of our existence. Relationality that goes beyond the interpersonal into our relationship with ecosystem, landscape, creature, critter and the invisible realms.
This series first ran under a Venus Ret in Scorpio cycle in 2018, and has run during every Venus ret period since then. This will be the last live round.
Although the series is timed to run alongside the astronomical and astrological phenomenon we call Venus Retrograde (in effect October 3-November 13, 2026), it contains very little explicitly astrological material – I’ll mostly be translating and interpreting that directly for you. The astro material it does include is meant to be accessible to all levels of astro-fluency.
You’ll be invited to explore mythology, psychology, ritual, personal narrative writing and reflecting, energy healing and clearing exercises, art, music and much more.
The course begins Thursday, September 24 with a new lesson available every Thursday until November 12. The final lesson will include suggestions for a closing ritual.
